The themed contests concerning the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gorlice are conducted under the “Spread Your Wings Remembering the Past” campaign. The main themes are the native land and the words of John Paul II: “When I think about my homeland, I express myself and get rooted, my heart tells me about it, like a hidden border, which runs from me to others …”. The initiative covers all elementary and junior high schools in the Gorlice District. The project is composed of a recital contest, historical knowledge contest, art contest, and photographic contest. The event is held under the honorary auspices of the Voivode of Małopolska Voivodeship Jerzy Miller and the Marshall of the Małopolska Voivodeship Marek Sowa.
